Next, please provide your organization’s Mission Statement as well as concise blurbs for the sections About Us and How You Help. These fields allow for formatting including bold, italicize, bullets, text justification, and adding a link to selected text.

Form field Recommendation(s)
Mission Statement Provide your organization’s mission statement starting with “To…” such as “To provide services for our community.”
Who We Are/About Us Provide a concise blurb (75-150 words) on when you were created/why and your current purpose/who you serve. Helpful tips:

  • Avoid including information that is not helpful for potential volunteers.
  • Avoid using language that will become out of date. For example, instead of saying “This year we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary”, use language such as “We were founded over 20 years ago to…”.
  • Use bullet points to improve readability and highlight key points for readers.
How You Help Provide a concise blurb (75-150 words) on how volunteers contribute to your organization. Helpful tips:

  • Do not include specific roles & responsibilities.
  • Avoid using language that will become out of date. For example, instead of saying “This year we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary”, use language such as “We were founded over 20 years ago to…”.
  • Use bullet points to improve readability and highlight key points for readers.

Note: You will be able to create specific “opportunities” for volunteers after organization approval. This section is a general overview of how volunteers help your organization.

Next, we require all profiles to provide a logo, “card” image, and gallery images. For each, click the “Add Image” button to upload an image file from your computer. You will be prompted to crop the photo before uploading.

Logo

Your logo will be displayed on your organization’s profile as well as your opportunity and organization listings for volunteers. If your organization has multiple logo options, select a logo version that will fit in a square profile frame and has minimal text.

When adding a logo it should be a square image at least 300 pixels x 300 pixels. The uploaded image can be scaled down and/or cropped. So if the logo is not square there is the ability to scale and crop the image to be square and centered. Select Crop/Save.

Card Images

Card images are the photos that will be displayed on your organization listing. We recommend choosing a photo that you feel best represents your organization and you feel would entice a volunteer to learn more about what you do.

Gallery Images

Gallery Images will be displayed on your organization’s profile. Select a minimum of 2-3 photos from your organization’s website, social media, or internal storage. A few recommendations on choosing photos:

  • Prioritize photos that show volunteers “in action” to demonstrate to potential volunteers the type of work they would be engaging in as your volunteer.
  • Avoid using photos that include text as these may be difficult for users to read.
  • Avoid using stock photos or AI-generated photos.

Here are some examples of great photos other organizations have used:

To help categorize your organization and improve your visibility to volunteers interested in certain impact areas, select the causes and Sustainable Development Goals that are most relevant to your organization.

Causes

For Causes, you can select as many as are relevant to your organization and mission.

UN SDG

In addition to causes, we categorize organizations by the UN Sustainable Development Goal that best fits. Select one SDG that best describes your organization. If unsure, check out this Quick Guide to Classifying Organizations to the UN SDGs. This goal will be displayed on your profile as a visual reference for volunteers to understand your impact area.

Finally, add your organization’s address using the search bar. Select the location displayed below the address you entered.

A location is required to be visible on the Explore page for volunteers to find you.

  • If you are a remote organization or cannot for any reason provide a street address, please enter a city, state, and zip code.
  • If volunteers meet in a different location than your official/mailing address, use this address.
