We've traditionally been a very hands-on Board, but as the organization has grown over the years, are now transitioning the Board to a more strategic role in setting direction for future initiatives. While board members are recruited for their business acumen or specific skillsets relevant to our operations, we all have a strong passion for companion animals and most have related rescue experience and ongoing ties to the shelter/rescue community. Board Requirements Board members are required to attend two mandatory board meetings each year (in March and September), up to two additional regular meetings of the board in June and December, as well as any special Board meetings called by the Board President, based on need. Members are encouraged to get involved in one of our operating committees. All Board Members are required to make an annual financial contribution to the organization, in an amount that is meaningful to them. Onboarding Board candidates first meet with the Board President to gain an understanding of our needs and culture, and determine if there is a good fit. We seek to find a position within our committee structure that matches their skillets and interest, and ask that they dedicate some time in that area during one of our event cycles before committing to a Board role. Candidates will get a good feel for the organization, our mission and culture, while working side-by-side with our Leadership Team during the course of our event preparations.
