While day-to-day operations are led by The Four-Seven’s Executive Director, the Board-Executive Director relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Board members serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization; and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission. Board Requirements Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can influence public policy. Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings. Participate fully in one or more committees. Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs. Attend a minimum of one inside Four-Seven program per month. Onboarding Orientation with the founder, board chair, CEO and/or ED; sharing of organizational information (i.e. program overviews, staff and volunteer rosters, bylaws and budget), board information (board contract, board roster, meeting schedule, current strategic plan, committee overviews, chairs and members); orientation and partnership development with current executive committee member in area of interest; welcome reception to introduce to the rest of the board, staff, and donors; followed by public announcement.
