Cincinnati Museum Center New Policies Regarding Covid-19

Cincinnati Museum Center remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.

As we prepare to welcome you into our museums once again, we want to share the steps we have taken to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff.

To allow for proper social distancing, we will be operating at or below 25% capacity. To do this, we will be using timed tickets for both Members and guests. We have also trained staff in safety protocols and have put in place best practices for cleanliness and sanitation. Additionally, we have explored new ways for you to engage with our interactive exhibits in no-touch or mobile-based ways.

Below is more information on how we are safely and responsibly welcoming you back to Cincinnati Museum Center.

Updated museum hours

Cincinnati Museum Center will be open Thursday – Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cincinnati Museum Center will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

CMC In-Hand Interactives powered by Digimarc

Cincinnati Museum Center is putting our interactive museum experiences in the palm of your hand. Over 25 museum interactives are available through the free Digimarc Discover app. Simply point the app at the sign accompanying a museum interactive and enjoy the experience safely on your phone. You can also experience the Maya: The Exhibition audioguide from your phone. Some interactives include audio, so please bring your headphones or ear buds. Search “Digimarc Discover” from your phone’s app store to download.

Timed tickets and reduced capacity

Cincinnati Museum Center will be using timed tickets for the Museum of Natural History & Science, Cincinnati History Museum, Maya: The Exhibition and the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX® Theater. We encourage guests to purchase tickets online or by calling (513) 287-7000.

Timed tickets will help us manage capacity in our experiences to comply with the recommendations of health officials and to allow for proper social distancing.

Parking changes

To reduce contact with the parking machine, all guests will pay for parking when you purchase tickets online or at the box office. As always, parking is free for Members.

Social distancing

In accordance with the recommendations of health officials, we ask that all guests please maintain a minimum of six feet between parties. We have provided floor markings to help guests visualize proper spacing throughout the building.

Face mask policy

For the safety of our staff and other guests, we ask that all guests please wear a mask when visiting. COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when people cough, sneeze and even talk. Many people who have COVID-19 are asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms but can easily infect others. Masks are a critical preventive measure for those who have or may have COVID-19 as they prevent the virus from being spread to others. Our staff will be wearing masks for the protection of our guests, their colleagues and our volunteers. We ask you to do the same for the protection of others.

Increased cleaning procedures

We have worked closely with UC Health to identify and implement the most effective sanitizing procedures. We clean our building thoroughly every night and every morning. Additionally, we have increased the frequency with which we clean high touch items like doorknobs, elevators, escalators, countertops and restrooms. We also have hand sanitizer stations available throughout the building.

The following areas are not open at this time:
  • Duke Energy Children’s Museum
  • The Cave
  • Science Interactives Gallery
  • Reakirt Auditorium
  • Scripps Howard Newsreel Theater

Additionally, some interactives may not be accessible at this time. Please contact Guest Services at (513) 287-7000 if you have questions about specific exhibit availability.
