Findlay Market

VendiRei, owner of Torta Bakery got her start at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park where she received her degree in culinary arts, but was always interested in baking and pastry making. She found a way to merge her passion for savory dishes with her additional interest in pastry-making by creating both sweet and savory pastry puffs.

Additionally, VendiRei’s flavor palette comes from all over. Originally from Cincinnati, VendiRei lived in Georgia for a while, which introduced her to Southern dishes and flavors.

“I consider myself a Southerner as much as I consider myself a Midwesterner,” she jokes.

La Factoria Cincy is the collaboration of four friends, three of which are from Colombia and one who is a Cincy local. Cooking brought their friend group together - each person brought forth a different idea, ingredient and flavor. They knew they had something unique when they invented the “goetta cone,” a cross between German-American goetta and Colombian patacones.

These two Findlay Kitchen members have paired up to create a dish that features Torta Bakery's flaky, buttery tart pastry as a shell that is filled with La Factoria's take on a classic Colombian sauce, hogao.

"Hogao is a Colombian sauce made with tomato and onion. It is a staple food in all Colombian households - it’s something that grandma would make," La Factoria's Diana explains.

Find their dish exclusively in the VIP section at Flavor of Findlay.

Flavor of Findlay is the market's largest fundraising event of the year and is happening Thursday, September 12th from 6:30-9:00pm. There will be food, entertainment, wine pairings and a silent auction. Please click the link below to purchase tickets in advance!

Straight Up SALSA's selection is made from scratch with locally grown and sourced produce and ingredients. Their salsas are all-natural and free from preservatives.

They have a range of flavors and heat - mild, mango, corn and smokey chipotle just to name a few!

Straight Up Salsa is owned and operated by mother and son duo, Dawn and Brandon.

"My son and I used to come to the market for mother and son dates and now we work here together!"

Their business has grown rapidly, as they not only sell their salsas at Findlay Market's farmers market but have also expanded into other local retailers like Jungle Jim's International Market Fairfield.

Spice up you Sunday in the farmers market by trying a sample of their salsa from 11am-12pm at the Education Center by the farmers market as part of our ongoing series Findlay Eat's Farmers' Market Edition.

Findlay Market

Neltner's Farm, located just a few miles south of the city in Camp Springs, Kentucky, was established in 1892 by Joseph Neltner, the son of a German immigrant who settled in the valley. Six generations have worked this same soil to provide for their families. Today, the Clarence & Claire Neltner family graciously stewards this land and take great pride in offering fresh, homegrown products to friends and neighbors from around the tri-state.

If you have ever passed by their stand at the market, their bright red tomato display probably caught your eye. They offer a plethora of seasonal produce such as peppers, sweet potatoes, squash and pumpkins. Their gorgeous farm is also home to Fall Fest and lovely outdoor weddings.

"We've been selling our flowers and produce at the market since 1978!"

As fall quickly approaches, be sure to check out all their delicious produce!
