Silent Sky – With warm-hearted wit and infectious joy, Silent Sky tells the riveting true story of Henrietta Leavitt, a pioneering scientist in an age when women couldn’t even vote. Despite not being allowed to touch a telescope, Henrietta and her coworkers at the Harvard Observatory made ground-breaking discoveries about the universe that are still vital today, over a century later. If you liked the movie Hidden Figures, you won’t want to miss this “luminously beautiful play” that will change how you look at both the heavens and the earth.

Praying!

Michael Barnett this is what all those cops flying by work was about.

It’s national GIS day! The City’s GIS Analyst, Jeff Trimmer, creates maps that departments and residents can use to visualize a variety of data. For instance, Jeff just finished a project with the Fire Department that intricately digitizes the locations of the 2,000 fire hydrants throughout the City so that they can be maintained and repaired quickly and efficiently. Jeff also has created and maintains a variety of maps for residents related to land division, topography, City Council Wards, flood zones, zoning, City services and parks. Read more about the City’s GIS services and see the maps at https://www.fairfield-city.org/182/MapGIS

City of Fairfield, Ohio - Government

Butler County graduated the second class of officers from our Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program last Friday. We are proud to coordinate this training and to be a part of the CIT program and steering committee in Butler County. Thank you to the many community partners and agencies who brought their expertise to last week's training.

Congratulations to these graduates, representing the following departments: Butler County Sheriff's Office, City of Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield Township Police Department, Hamilton Police Department - Ohio, Kettering Health Network Police, City of Oxford, Ohio - Division of Police, State of Ohio Adult Parole Authority, and West Chester Township Police

The training is provided free of charge to county law enforcement and first responders. We would like to thank the Fairfield Municipal Court and Judge Joyce Campbell for a grant supporting this training, the City of Fairfield Police Department for hosting the training and providing breakfast, and Beckett Springs for providing lunch for one of the days.
