Bethany House Services empowers homeless and at-risk families with solutions to achieve housing stability and long-term self-sufficiency.
Opportunities

Provide a Meal for our Families

There have been many changes BHS has had to make due to the spread of COVID-19. We officially moved our families to hotels to maintain safe social distancing. This has brought many changes to the typical volunteer dinner policy. Those changes are listed down below. We really appreciate your support during these crazy times.

  • Due to the moving families out of both of our communal style shelters of both Bond Hill and Fairmount, we are feeding more families than normal at one location. Currently, there are right around 60 guests staying at a hotel.
  • We are providing food as much as possible, but the need for food from volunteers like yourself is immense.
  • Due to social distancing, we are asking that food be separated into 16 different containers (if possible) for the 16 different families staying in each hotel room. This makes it easy for our shelter staff to drop off the items to the families easily. This could be done just using ziplock bags, plastic containers or bags, or by using old Tupperware containers.
  • Food must be brought to the Volunteer Coordinator, Gage Woolley, and he will then drop off the food to our families at the hotel. We are not revealing the location of the hotel for security purposes. To arrange a mealtime and drop off, please email Gage at info@bhsinc.org.
  • Drinks are also allowed but must be in cans or something that is easily deliverable.

Maintenance Volunteer

Handyman/woman needed to help maintain the shelter and staff offices. Bethany House’s seven buildings need repair work on an ongoing basis.

Special Event Committee

Join a Special Event Committee and help plan our 3 annual events. Plan, prepare and run Bethany House fundraising events throughout the year. Activities range from planning the event, making follow up calls to potential attendees, soliciting auction items, making auction baskets, and helping with setup and event registration. Or volunteer the day of the event to help with a variety of activities.

Deep Cleaning Shelter Volunteer

We need volunteers to “super” clean both of our shelters in Fairmount and Bond Hill.

Third Party Fundraisers

Third Party Fundraisers are a great way to be involved! Host a fundraiser of your own! Gather a group to host small fundraisers such as a bake sale, car wash or pub crawl to raise funds for the many needs our families may have. Or arrange a supply/donation drive for items from our wish list.

Speakers Bureau

Provide Breakfast

Prepare and serve breakfast at the shelters on Saturdays or Sundays in Fairmount or Bond Hill. Volunteers can cook breakfast at home and heat it upon arrival or cook in our fully equipped kitchens.

Provide Dinner

Food and cleaning supply donations needed

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, our Administrative staff is currently working from home.  However, Bethany House continues to provide shelter. If you are a family in need of emergency shelter, please call 513-381-SAFE or text 513-970-1515.

About us

Bethany House Services (BHS) provides emergency shelter for families living on the streets, in their cars or abandoned buildings, and helps them achieve stable housing and income. The shelter meets each family’s immediate needs for safety, housing, food and other necessities and provides a secure environment for parents to plan for their futures. Bethany House is the largest family shelter in Cincinnati serving over half of the families experiencing homeless in our community. Bethany House is the also largest provider of HUD-funded housing for families in the Cincinnati/Hamilton County Continuum of Care (CoC) offering Shelter Diversion, Rapid Re-Housing and Permanent Supportive Housing.
