Board Member
Our board | The volunteer Board of Trustees, together, is responsible for determining the organization’s policy, serving in a legal fiduciary capacity, ensuring consistency with the mission of the organization, and providing material, financial and technical resources. The 20-member board governs as a typical non-profit board through an Executive, Finance, Development, Marketing, and Nominating committees. Board members are representative of the community we serve and diverse across multiple categories. Decisions are made by majority vote following thorough research, discussion and consensus building. |

Donation | We strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions. |

Requirements | Board members serve a term of (3) years; there are no term limits. Members are expected to attend (6) board meetings and the annual fundraising event. Board members are expected to make an annual financial contribution at their personal comfort level. Board members may choose to serve on a governance committee or a program leadership team that aligns with their gifts. Board members must serve as an ambassador for the organization. Leadership, connection to networks and diverse perspectives are appreciated. |

On-boarding | The past board chair and/or the CEO meet with potential board members to share about the organization and learn about the person interested. If there is a mutual fit, the interested person submits the PF! Nomination Form. Elections are held annually in June. Board mentors are assigned for 1 year. New board orientation is held in July/August. The Board handbook is reviewed. New board members are invited to meet with program staff to better understand how the mission is accomplished. |
