Our board
  • A Director must exhibit an interest in the Coalition's concerns, goals, mission, and vision.
  • The Board of Directors shall comprise of no less than 8 Directors and no more than 17 at any time.
  • Each Director shall hold the office for a term of 3 years; and shall no serve mo more than two consecutive terms.
  • The Board of Directors meet four times per year.  Each Director serves on a standing committee as agreed upon by the Chairman of the Board.
  • The Board of Directors currently function as an advisory board.
Position While day-to-day operations are led by SBCC's Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific board member responsibilities include:
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the ED she develops and implements SBCC’s strategic plan
  • Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Approving SBCC’s annual budget, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Assisting the ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other board members
  • Partnering with the ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing SBCC to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization

Donation We strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
Requirements Members must attend 50% of all regularly scheduled meetings. Members are encouraged to attend all fundraising events, social events, and other activities of the Coalition. All members are covered by "Officers and Director's" liability insurance.
On-boarding Our on-boarding process is as follows: 1) Meet with Executive Director, Governance Chair and Board of Directors Chair 2) Attend a meeting (shadow)

Additional Info The Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati's mission is to promote and enhance the lives of all affected by spina bifida. The Board will support the work of the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati (SBCC) and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance.
