Board Member

Our board The Dress for Success Cincinnati Board of Directors and Portaluca Advisory Board are working boards that support the work of DFSC and provide leadership and strategic governance.
Position This position is for the board of PORTALUCA.  Portaluca is a vibrant boutique located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, at 209 West Fourth Street. Portaluca exists to provide quality fashion at affordable prices, helping women to feel confident, optimistic, and beautiful. With our mission in mind, our name was inspired by radiant light – hopeful, powerful and bright. Most importantly, all proceeds from Portaluca boutique benefit Dress for Success Cincinnati to help women achieve economic independence. The Portaluca Board of Directors is a working board. The Board takes pride in providing outreach to the community while running the Boutique as cost-effectively as possible in order to maximize our bi-annual contribution back to Dress for Success Cincinnati. In order to meet these goals, board members are expected to support the mission in the following ways: • Regular Monthly Board Meetings: The Board typically meets one day a month over the lunch hour, currently the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 12-1:30. Meetings are held September through June, with special sessions during the summer as needed for committee initiatives or key events. Meetings are held in the Dress for Success offices at 205 W. 4th Street, first floor conference room, in downtown Cincinnati. Regular attendance is expected. • Sub-Committee Meetings: Board members are expected to serve on one or two sub- committees in addition to the regular board. These commitments vary by committee and season, but members can expect to spend approximately 2-4 hours per month on sub- committee work, in addition to their regular board commitment. • Events: In order to reach the community with our mission, and drive sales in the Boutique, board members are asked to attend occasional shopping parties and other events that promote Portaluca and Dress for Success. There is typically at least one event per month; board members are asked to attend as many as possible, averaging about 1 per quarter or so. • Volunteering: Volunteering for Dress for Success and Portaluca is encouraged and appreciated as schedules permit.
