Our board The Sarah House Foundation Board of Directors governs the overall execution of the organization’s mission. Principally, the Board manages organizational finances and sets long term priorities for programs, primarily the development of a freestanding pediatric hospice and respite home. Additionally, the Board will oversee the role of the Executive Director, who will be responsible for day-today management of the organization. Overall, the members of the Board contribute the educational, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year educational excellence for the Sarah House Foundation mission. Position The Sarah House Board of Directors are recruiting new members!  This particular financial board member should possess an extensive knowledge base specific to healthcare and medical coding, billing and insurance reimbursement.  Our board is seeking an individual who will be instrumental in guiding the board through the process of understanding the medical billing process, and helping to facilitate contracts with insurance companies for children to stay at Sarah House, based on the particular facility license we hold.  Which is an independent unique "pediatric respite care" license, a revision under the current hospice license.   HB 303 called "Sarah's Law". The right person should have extensive experience with proven leadership skills and results. Extensive experience in public and/or private financial accounting, reporting, and management.  Expertise in writing contracts with insurance companies and vendors.    Experienced in not-for-profit organizations preferred. Board experience preferred.

Donation We strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
Requirements Board Member responsibilities include attendance of regular board meetings (average 8 per year), as well as teleconference meetings and active electronic conversations as part of Board committees. In some years the Board has held additional meetings. Board members also hold a fiduciary responsibility for management of organizational capital and ensuring appropriate filings with federal, state, and local authorities consistent with the organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The attendance policy allows for removal if three consecutive meetings are missed without notice. The Board of Directors has up to 17 voting members and a minimum of 9 members. Terms are for 3 years. Board positions require a time and energy commitment that should not be underestimated. Candidates are urged to consider personal priorities for the next year as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the organization. *Monthly meetings *Committee Work (generally by email) • Annual Meeting • Annual Fundraiser- board participation needed/required
