Committee Member – Finance
| Our board | CAIN’s Board is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization. Responsibilities include: Understanding and supporting CAIN’s mission, service area, programs and guest needs and serving as an ambassador and spokesperson; Participating fully on one committee; Attending and actively participating in at least 75% of Board meetings; Actively participating in donor cultivation process; Making a personal financial contribution to CAIN commensurate with one’s ability and interest. Goal is 100% Board participation; Identifying any potential conflicts of interest and following confidentiality policies. |

| Position | The CAIN Finance Committee is responsible for development and monitoring an annual budget, monitoring the overall health of the organization, insuring that an annual audit takes place and is chaired by the Treasurer. |

| Requirements | The Board of Directors shall be composed of 19 members, one (1) of whom shall be a current or former CAIN guest. Of the remaining 18, at least six (6) shall be members of Member Churches and the remaining shall be drawn from CAIN’s service area and the community at large, ensuring diverse representation and balancing the skill requirements needed to manage effectively. Prior experience with CAIN is preferred but not required. |

| On-boarding | Board member submits application. Executive committee member 1) interviews and explains roles, responsibilities and expectations, 2) gives overview of committees, 3) facilitates meeting with Executive Director and staff; 3) tour of facilities, 4) arranges volunteering to serve guests (if not familiar.) Typically, October board confirms church and board membership. November board meeting is a joint meeting of outgoing and incoming board members and officers. New members receive their manual. Commitment and conflict of interest forms are distributed and collected then or at January meeting. Board terms are through December. |
