Committee Member – Governance

Our board Our board is a working board, mostly consisting of parents. We would love to get more people outside of the school involved in our board and its committees, especially those with some experience in certain areas. We have 5 Trustees, 3 advisory council members, the Head of School, the Business Manager and about 2-4 committee members who attend our meetings.
Position Our Governance Committee Chair has been in his role for 7 years and his child has graduated this year and their family will no longer be with us. He was pivotal in our growth as a board and while we have two other hardworking Governance committee members, we need someone with experience with Human Resources or someone in the legal field to lead the committee and keep the board functioning as it should. Our committee chair is leaving behind an organized committee with established goals and a good onboarding process. Our board works extremely well together and we are eager to improve and grow in many areas. Someone joining us could make an immediate and direct impact because we are so small and really need help in this area.

Commitment 3 to 5 hours/month
Donation We strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
Requirements Attendance at most committee and/or board meetings is our main requirement. Attendance at events is encouraged, but not required.
On-boarding The first step would be to meet with the Board President and our Governance Committee Chair to get information. Next would be shadowing a meeting. If possible, it would be great to check out the school and learn a little about it. Finally, the Governance Committee would give a full onboarding session with more detailed information.
