Cincinnati Health Department reported that our neighbors in Lower Price Hill have the lowest life expectancy in the city. Access to healthcare, poverty, pollution, and other determinants of health are all factors.
During the COVID-19, Community Matters is working to keep our neighbors as safe as possible. Many neighbors have pre-existing conditions that make them especially vulnerable to the coronavirus, and neighbors often do not have connections to masks or mask-making resources.
Over the last two weeks, members of our team have been making homemade, cloth masks, as well as working to find donations of mask-making supplies and/or masks. Our goal is 150-200 masks to protect our neighbors with need as they get groceries, run essential errands, go to work, or visit to the doctor.
We need your help to reach this goal! If you have a connection to masks, are able to help sew some, or have supplies to donate (fabric, interfacing, elastic, or bias tape), please let us know.
