Our mission

Our mission is to conserve coral reefs and marine ecosystems through educational programs that teach scientific methods and protocols that enable the public to assist in hands-on citizen science based conservation and restoration projects.

Opportunities

Emerging Leaders Council Member – Conservation Leadership Opportunity

Reef Expeditions is seeking motivated individuals to join our Emerging Leaders Council, a volunteer advisory group created to bring fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, creativity and new skills to our conservation and educational work.

Council members may help develop conservation and citizen-science programs, community cleanups and habitat-restoration projects, educational content, communications and social media, fundraising and events, partnerships, and other initiatives that help grow the organization.

We welcome students, recent graduates, early-career professionals and other adults interested in conservation, environmental education, nonprofit leadership, communications, business, technology or community engagement. No previous professional conservation experience is required.

Time commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per month for a one-year volunteer term.

Applications are being accepted through August 31, 2026, or until positions are filled.

How you help

Volunteers help Reef Expeditions expand our conservation and educational impact. Opportunities may include citizen-science projects, coral reef monitoring, community cleanups, invasive-species and habitat-restoration projects, educational programs, special events, communications, social media, fundraising and community outreach. We also offer leadership opportunities through our Emerging Leaders Council for individuals interested in taking a more active role in helping develop conservation programs and grow the organization.

Reef Expeditions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation organization that connects people with scientists, educators and conservation professionals through hands-on environmental education, citizen science and field research. Our programs include coral reef monitoring and marine conservation as well as local and regional wildlife, habitat and environmental projects. We provide opportunities for volunteers, students and community members to participate directly in meaningful conservation work while learning from experienced professionals.
