Ways to help youth thrive

Mentor

When you become a mentor with FGLA, you start off your session with a classroom of students by connecting with them using "getting to know you questions," provided by FGLA. After that, you read a poem to the students, followed by the whole group reading the poem together. You then work on listening and team building activities, with role-playing scenarios to help develop character.  Finally, you have a 10-minute discussion with your students about their objectives and goals for the program. While you lead the class, FGLA provides the evidenced-based curriculum.

How you help As thousands of children go back to school in the Cincinnati area, we need to remind ourselves of different ways we can make a positive impact on a child’s life. One of the ways volunteers like you can make a difference in a child’s life is through tutoring and mentoring.
About us FGLA is a millennial driven academic support service that works with school aged youth to provide services in a unique and engaging format. We take pride in our authentic ability to relate to the youth and encourage them in a language they understand.
