About us JFF-CINCY’s offices officially opened in September 2019, becoming JFF’s first expansion city and second office nationally. FERTILITY GRANTS: JFF-CINCY offers grants ranging from $1,000 - $7,500 to Jewish individuals/couples toward in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI). Grantees are selected through a systematic process, inclusive of financial and medical review. The average cost of IVF in Cincinnati is $14,000 per cycle and the average cost of IUI in Cincinnati is $750 per cycle. This, particularly when one or more IVF cycles are necessary, is cost prohibitive for most. JFF-Atlanta, which has been offering grants for 5 years, has provided $455,000 in grants thus far, of which 40% of grantees are interfaith. JFF-CINCY offers up to $5,000 of interest-free loans through the Jewish Federation’s interest-free loan program. JFF-CINCY secured discounted rates of 20% off of treatment costs from 2 out of 3 of the local, SART-certified fertility clinics for JFF-CINCY fertility grantees (the 3rd of which is pending). Doctors from each of these fertility clinics sit on our medical council, which reviews grant applications. EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: JFF’s signature Fertility Buddies support program matches veterans of infertility with those currently struggling with infertility called actives. The program is confidential, relationship based, and peer-to-peer, and veterans are trained by an infertility therapist prior to being matched and are supported throughout the program by the therapist as well. EDUCATIONAL AWARENESS: JFF educates community leaders about infertility and fertility clinic doctors and staff about the unique needs of more religious Jews. By way of example, in December of 2019, JFF-CINCY hosted a lunch and learn at Rockdale Temple to educate local clergy about infertility; a few weeks later infertility was the topic of one of the attendee’s Shabbat sermon!
