Ways to help |
Foot Care for the SoulsThis program offers a unique, personal connection to those who need special care for their feet. Those experiencing homelessness spend so much time on their feet, frequently walking long distances daily. The Foot Care for the Souls program depends on trained volunteers and community support. If you’re interested in learning more about this program or becoming a volunteer, please contact Theresa Diersen at [email protected]Mother Teresa of Calcutta Dining RoomWe offer anyone in need dignity within a safe environment to have a meal served by compassionate volunteers. Breakfast (6:45 am to 9 am) and dinner (3:45 pm to 6 pm) are served Monday through Friday (excluding major holidays). Volunteer groups are welcome to help fill hundreds of shifts each month.Bag Lunch ProgramThis program provides an opportunity for volunteers to do service on their own time. We need volunteers to make bag lunches throughout the week to give out to the homeless and day laborers that come through our facility. This is also a great opportunity for student volunteers to assemble sandwiches for our bag lunches as a class project. Please reach out to Volunteer Director Theresa Diersen at [email protected] to schedule a convenient time for this volunteer opportunity.Cooking For The FamilyStudents learn 8 basic cooking skills, create a full meal to enjoy in class, get fresh produce to take home each class, and receive a cooking kit to take home at the end of the series. Each recipe learned features a healthy meal that can feed a family of 4 for under $10! Volunteers for this program assist the students and Chef Instructor with set up, clean up, and cooking during the cooking classes. A meal is provided at the end of each class for volunteers as well.Sarah CenterSarah Center empowers people to learn skills that lead to gainful employment. From sewing to quilting and jewelry making, our unique approach fosters participants’ self-confidence through the creative process. Practically applied the learned skills can be marketed to provide gainful employment and economic independence. Volunteers are needed in the classroom and to help sort donated materials. Contact the Sarah Center Program Director Lois Shegog at [email protected] for more information.Help make Meals to Go
