About us Established in 1920, Wesley Education Center for Children and Families is the oldest childcare facility of its kind in the City of Cincinnati. Our educational philosophy is based on meeting the developmental needs of the whole child: educationally, emotionally, socially in a safe and healthy environment. Wesley’s roots grew from a small center in Cincinnati’s West End that was responding to the needs of working mothers who did not have a place to send their children while they worked. This was the area’s first nursery and kindergarten. Over the years, the Center continued to grow, providing childcare services for children ages 6 weeks to pre-kindergarten. In 1960, through the support of the United Methodist Women, the Center broke ground for the current facility in Avondale.
