Board Member – Marketing/Events

Our board	The Sarah House Foundation Board of Directors governs the overall execution of the organization’s mission. Principally, the Board manages organizational finances and sets long term priorities for programs, primarily the development of a freestanding pediatric hospice and respite home. Additionally, the Board will oversee the role of the Executive Director, who will be responsible for day-today management of the organization. Overall, the members of the Board contribute the educational, management, legal, and financial skills needed to ensure long term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year educational excellence for the Sarah House Foundation mission. Position	The Sarah House board of directors are recruiting new members! Sarah House has kicked off a new awareness campaign and are eager to spread the word to the community around us once more! We are about to hire our first staff person (a development director) and are eager to have a major fundraising event in the fall! The board member responsible for marketing and events brings to the organization deep and broad experience in the oversight of marketing and events that produce immediate and direct results for an organization’s bottom line. This board member should both be able to roll up their sleeves, but also is able to see the big picture of the impact of marketing and events.

When	Board Meetings- Monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm

Where	Currently meeting at Cincinnati Children's Hospital 3333 Burnett Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229, Location D, second floor, room 2-20

Commitment	7+ hours/month

Donation	We strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.

Requirements	Board Member responsibilities include attendance of regular board meetings (average 8 per year), as well as teleconference meetings and active electronic conversations as part of Board committees. In some years the Board has held additional meetings. Board members also hold a fiduciary responsibility for management of organizational capital and ensuring appropriate filings with federal, state, and local authorities consistent with the organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The attendance policy allows for removal if three consecutive meetings are missed without notice. The Board of Directors has up to 17 voting members and a minimum of 9 members. Terms are for 3 years. Board positions require a time and energy commitment that should not be underestimated. Candidates are urged to consider personal priorities for the next year as well as the ways to contribute to the development of the organization. Our mission	To provide a home that focuses on maintaining the quality of life for children with life-limiting illnesses and essential support for their families. It includes the management of distressing symptoms and the provision of respite care, comfort care and bereavement.
