Up to 60% of long-term care residents do not receive visitors on a regular basis. This population often needs a voice-- someone who will advocate for their quality of care and quality of life.
Ombudsmen advocate for those living in assisted living, nursing homes and other long-term care settings, working to resolve problems related to the health, safety, welfare, and rights of residents. Train as an ombudsman volunteer so you too can help this vulnerable population. Following training, visit residents a nearby home once per month, and make a difference in their lives.
Visit our website to sign up, or contact Linda at 513-458-5520 for more information.
Volunteers complete 36 hours of training, a combination of classroom, homework and field shadowing, and then pass a state certification exam. Eighteen hours of continuing education is required each year to maintain this certification. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year.
